Château d’Arsac 2024
Cru Bourgeois Exceptionnel
AOC Margaux
BLEND:
90% Cabernet Sauvignon – 10% Merlot
TASTING NOTES:
The wine displays an intense garnet red colour. It is clear and bright.
The initial nose reveals an aromatic bouquet strongly reminiscent of Cabernet Sauvignon, with varietal notes of blackcurrant bud and spices. After swirling, the wine evolves to red fruit aromas (sour cherries, blackberry).
The attack is fresh and sharply defined. The mid-palate is dense, with a velvety texture and supple tannins. The finish is marked by red fruit, with notes of eucalyptus that extend the tasting.

2024: a Vintage Full of Surprises...
One of the distinctive features of this 2024 vintage lies in the length of its cycle, as it began with a very early bud break for Merlots on March 18 and Cabernet Sauvignons on March 26.
After a warm and dry start to April that gives the vines a boost, May and June are particularly rainy with low sunshine, which will slow down the vines' development.
With these damp conditions settling in for the long haul, downy mildew pressure in the vineyard reaches historically high levels. As a result, spray treatments are renewed at very tight intervals and vineyard practices are particularly meticulous for this 2024 vintage (leaf removal on both sides, extensive desuckering, and so on).
Flowering kicks off late, on 28 May for the Merlots and 5 June for the Cabernet Sauvignons, lasting about ten days. In July, the cool and damp conditions keep downy mildew pressure high. Veraison, stretching from 5 to 30 August, confirms the forecast of a late vintage for 2024.
September was also marked by significant rainfall, impacting the sugar concentration in the grapes. Despite this, the sanitary condition remained good and allowed for beautiful phenolic ripeness with good tannin quality and very fruity, varietal aromatics. The 2024 harvest, exceptionally late compared to previous vintages, ultimately took place under "good conditions."
