FUTURES – Château Le Monteil d’Arsac 2024

Available from July 2026

BLEND:

70% Cabernet Sauvignon – 30% Merlot

TASTING NOTES:

The wine is a fairly intense ruby red. It is clear and brilliant. On the nose, the wine reveals notes of red fruits and blackcurrants in particular. When swirled, the bouquet becomes more complex and becomes spicier and roasted with toasted almond and cocoa notes.
The palate is fresh and taut on the attack. The mid-palate is dense and full. The finish is mouth-watering with notes reminiscent of almond again.

One of the peculiarities of this 2024 vintage lies in the length of its cycle, as it began with a very early bud break for the Merlots on March 18 and the Cabernet Sauvignons on March 26.

After a warm and dry start to April that boosted the vines, May and June were particularly rainy with limited sunshine, which led to a slowdown in vine development.

Flowering started late on May 28 for the Merlots and June 5 for the Cabernet Sauvignons, lasting about ten days. In July, cool and humid conditions contributed to maintaining the high pressure of downy mildew. Only the onset of warm and dry conditions in mid-July allowed for the containment of fungal spread. Veraison, which stretched from August 5 to August 30, confirmed the prediction of a late vintage for 2024.

September was also marked by significant rainfall, impacting the sugar concentration in the grapes. Despite this, the sanitary condition remained good and allowed for beautiful phenolic ripeness with good tannin quality and very fruity, varietal aromatics. The 2024 harvest, exceptionally late compared to previous vintages, ultimately took place in "good conditions."
